It's a smart move to work with your REALTOR's preferred lender for multiple reasons. Many consumers assume incorrectly that it's none of their real estate agent's business who the lender is and are reluctant to share their lender's contact information. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Your REALTOR and your lender form a powerful team. They need to work in concert to support your efforts to purchase a house or condominium. At the outset, your agent must understand your lender's requirements for how long it will take them to underwrite your file & approve your loan, how long it will take to actually fund the loan, and how long it will take to close escrow. Lenders are keen to perform at the highest level for the clients of agents who bring them repeat business. Also, if your agent is experienced, he or she may have worked with dozens and dozens of different lenders over the years and knows from experience which of them provide excellent service, competitive rates, fast turn times, and a seamless, stress-free process. Compare that to the average buyer who has MAYBE worked with one or 2 lenders in their entire lifetime. Worried about kickbacks? Relax! Ethical agents, bound by RESPA guidelines, never receive financial incentives from lenders. Their recommendation solely benefits you.
